If you’ve never been to a cannabis club before, it’s normal to have some questions: how do you get in, what should you bring with you, or what are the rules inside? We’ll tell you everything you need to know so that your first visit goes smoothly and without any surprises.
Before you go: what you’ll need
- Be of legal age. At Green Palace, entry is restricted to those aged 18 and over, with no exceptions.
- An invitation or endorsement. Cannabis clubs are private. You usually join either on the invitation of a member or by applying to the club. You can apply at Become a member.
- Original identity document: A valid national identity card (DNI), foreign resident identity card (NIE) or passport. You cannot register without a valid identity document.
- Time: The first time you do this, you’ll need to fill in the registration form and read the rules, so don’t rush.
On arrival: registering as a member
At reception, you’ll be asked to show your ID and they’ll explain how the club works. You’ll sign the membership application form and agree to the constitution and internal rules. Some clubs have a waiting period between applying and your first visit as a member, so do ask before you go.
Inside the club: basic rules
- Consumption is for on-premises use only. Nothing is taken out onto the street, and nothing is consumed at the door or in the immediate vicinity.
- Respect for neighbours: avoid noise and crowds when entering and leaving.
- Privacy: Do not take photos or videos of other members without their permission.
- Responsible consumption: If you’re new to this, start small and take it slowly. If it gets too intense, let the staff know.
- No driving After drinking. Use public transport or a taxi.
What sort of atmosphere will you find?
A good club is a comfortable and peaceful place to socialise: seating areas, music, games and events for members. At Green Palace, we organise activities throughout the week, which you can find out about at cannabis events.
Common mistakes made the first time round
- Turn up without the original document (a photo on your mobile won’t do).
- To turn up uninvited, expecting to be let in straight away.
- Overeating in a bid to get there quickly.
- Going out and smoking in the street: as well as being a nuisance, it can result in a fine.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I go with a friend who isn’t a member?
Only if you also complete your registration and meet the requirements. Non-members are not permitted to remain on the premises.
Can tourists become members?
It depends on each association’s rules. It’s best to ask before you go via the Frequently Asked Questions section or by telephone.
